Press Releases > Generous Residents Convert Jazz To Brass
Retirement Village residents have enjoyed a jazz concert while raising funds for The Bowes Museum.
Each year Middleton Hall Retirement Village at Middleton-St-George near Darlington raises funds for local charities, and in choosing the Museum they realised a total of £688, which was matched by Barclays Bank, making a grand total of £1,376.
The concert, by established six piece jazz band Sharp Intake, involved a variety of traditional jazz numbers as well as their own arrangements of traditional and modern songs, performed in Middleton Hall’s restaurant, converted for the day into a Jazz Club.
The retirement village was supported in organising the event in aid of the Barnard Castle treasure house by Fiona Moxham, Relationship Support Manager at Barclays Corporate, who was involved in the fundraising for the concert.
Fiona also arranged for a giant-sized cheque to be presented to the Museum’s Director, Adrian Jenkins, by Jeremy Walford, Managing Director at Middleton Hall, who said: “We have all been delighted to be involved with raising funds for such an important museum and look forward to working further with them in the future.”
In thanking Jeremy, Adrian said: “We are very grateful to the residents of Middleton Hall Retirement Village for their support. We will be putting the money towards our schools education programme, related to our forthcoming exhibitions.”
